FIVE88

San Francisco, CA

This signature project by David Baker Architects is a new, market-rate apartment complex located in the new Mission Bay development south of downtown San Francisco adjacent to the historic shipyards.

The dramatic Cor-Ten steel façade is reminiscent of the rusting hull of a ship and utilizes EnFold Façade’s patented ‘easy-install’ rainscreen.

Sunshades were attached directly to the rainscreens, creating shadows and providing depth, while strategically placed perforations allow unit venting to be concealed behind the rainscreen panels.

Elsewhere on the project, anodized aluminum guardrails and sunshades, using the same pattern, add eye-catching texture to an otherwise minimal façade.
